A Story of Compassion from Firoz

Dear friends,

I want to share a story that deeply moved me and reminds us of the very values we strive to uphold at KGS Foundation. Recently, I met a jewelry seller named Firoz near the Shirdi Sai Baba temple. When he approached me to buy his jewelry, I told him I didn’t need any but offered him 50 rupees as a gesture of appreciation for his hard work. To my surprise, Firoz refused to accept the money, explaining that he couldn’t take something he hadn’t earned.

Instead, he directed my attention to an elderly lady nearby, who was caring for her blind grandson. Firoz suggested that I help them instead. His selflessness touched my heart. In that moment, I decided to buy jewelry from Firoz and also offer assistance to the grandmother and her grandson. But when I turned back, Firoz had disappeared.

Firoz’s actions are a powerful example of the compassion and integrity that we, at KGS Foundation, seek to practice every day. His willingness to put others’ needs before his own is a reminder that true kindness comes from the heart, and that our work—whether in education, providing meals, or supporting the needy—should always be rooted in this kind of selfless compassion.

Let us take inspiration from Firoz and continue our efforts to serve the poor and needy with the same dedication and love. Every small act of kindness, every time we put others before ourselves, we bring a little more light into the world.

Together, we can make a difference.

With gratitude and hope,
